about

Welcome to my recording of the complete piano works of Erik Satie.

Volume Four includes four short pieces: Satie’s first published work Valse-Ballet, the middle-period Verset laïque et somptueux, an untitled piece (possibly a sketch for the “Messe des pauvres”), and Satie’s own transcription of “Chanson Andalouse” from his lost operetta “Pousse l’amour.” These short pieces surround a long piece: 5³ repetitions of Vexations. I think it is rewarding to listen to this album all the way through, if you have the inclination to do so.

Volume Four was recorded on a piano in Berkeley, California, with a portable digital recorder, over a single session in October 2017.

If you like this project, want it to continue, and/or want to experience other weird projects from me in the future, please consider giving me money.
